JAMA MASJID DELHI


  • Jama Masjid which is situated in Old Delhi India is also commonly known as Masjid-i Jahān-Numā .
  • It is the oldest mosque whole over India and was built by the mogul emperor Shah Jahan.It is the same emperor who built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort for his beloved wife.
  • The courtyard of the mosque can hold up to twenty-five thousand worshippers.
  • The foundation of the historic Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) was laid on a hillock in Shahjahanabad by fifth Mughal Emperor of India, Shahjahan, on Friday the October 6, 1650 AD, (10th Shawwal 1060 AH).The jama masjid took 5000 workers to built it for 6 years continuously..
  • The structure of the jama masjid enable us to feel the Islamic practice worshiped by shah jahan.
